Mojave 3 is a British band formed in 1995 by former members of Slowdive. Their music, a blend of dream-pop, indie-folk, and slowcore, is characterized by gentle melodies and a melancholic atmosphere.

Formed in 1995 in London, Mojave 3 emerged from the dissolution of the shoegaze band Slowdive, featuring Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar), Rachel Goswell (vocals, guitar), Ian McCutcheon (drums), Simon Rowe (guitar), and Alan Forrester (keyboards). The group quickly developed a distinct sound, moving away from Slowdive's wall-of-sound guitars to explore more acoustic and introspective territories. Their music became synonymous with delicate melodies, ethereal vocal harmonies, and an aesthetic often described as slowcore or indie-folk.

Their debut album, Ask Me Tomorrow, released in 1995 on the prestigious 4AD label, immediately established their new artistic direction. It was praised for its understated beauty and dreamy atmosphere, laying the groundwork for their characteristic style. Throughout their discography, which includes notable albums like Out of Tune (1998) and Excuses for Travellers (2000), Mojave 3 refined their approach, sometimes incorporating touches of alternative country and more complex arrangements, while maintaining a gentle melancholy and emotional depth.

The band released five studio albums before taking a hiatus after Puzzles Like You in 2006. Although never officially announcing a breakup, members focused on solo projects or other formations. Neil Halstead pursued an acclaimed solo career, while Rachel Goswell participated in projects like Minor Victories. Mojave 3 remains a touchstone for fans of atmospheric indie music, having left a lasting impression through their elegance and sincerity.
