The Zutons are a British indie rock band from Liverpool, formed in 2001. They are known for their distinctive fusion of psychedelic rock, funk, and soul, prominently featuring a saxophone.

Formed in Liverpool in 2001, The Zutons quickly rose to prominence in the British music scene with a unique sound that set them apart from their peers. Comprising Dave McCabe (vocals, guitar), Abi Harding (saxophone, vocals), Sean Payne (drums, vocals), Russell Pritchard (bass), and Boyan Chowdhury (guitar, later replaced), the band forged a sonic identity blending indie rock energy with elements of funk, soul, and psychedelic pop.

Their debut album, Who Killed...... The Zutons?, released in 2004, garnered critical acclaim and featured prominent tracks such as "Pressure Point" and "You Will You Won't." This record showcased their ability to craft catchy melodies supported by bold arrangements, notably the distinctive integration of Abi Harding's saxophone.

Success continued with their second album, Tired of Hanging Around, released in 2006, which included the hit "Valerie." This song, famously covered by Amy Winehouse and achieving global recognition, became one of their most iconic compositions, illustrating their talent for timeless songwriting. After a period of inactivity and a hiatus in 2009, the band reformed for tours and released new material, demonstrating the enduring appeal of their influence and inimitable style.
