Owen Pallett is a Canadian composer, violinist, and singer-songwriter known for intricate orchestral arrangements blending indie pop with classical influences. His solo work, initially as Final Fantasy, is celebrated for its originality and rich soundscapes.

Owen Pallett, born in 1979 in Mississauga, Ontario, is a distinctive figure in contemporary Canadian music. A virtuoso multi-instrumentalist, prolific composer, and sought-after arranger, he first gained recognition under the moniker Final Fantasy before adopting his own name in 2010. His style is characterized by a bold fusion of indie pop, baroque pop, and chamber music, often built around his violin and electronic loops.

His solo discography includes acclaimed albums such as Has a Good Home (2005) and He Poos Clouds (2006), the latter winning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize. The transition to his birth name marked a stylistic evolution, notably with the ambitious and narrative album Heartland (2010). In Conflict (2014) continued to explore his introspective themes and sophisticated arrangements.

Beyond his solo career, Pallett is also a highly demanded arranger and orchestrator. He has collaborated with major artists like Arcade Fire, The National, R.E.M., and contributed to film scores, earning an Academy Award nomination for the soundtrack of Her (with William Butler). His influence lies in his ability to elevate pop to symphonic art, while maintaining authenticity and emotional depth.
