music · ·L'Aeronef, Lille

Eagle Twin is an American duo from Salt Lake City, Utah, renowned for their heavy, ritualistic doom metal, infused with sludge and blues. Their music features massive riffs and a hypnotic, crushing atmosphere.

Formed in 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Eagle Twin is the project of guitarist and vocalist Gentry Densley (formerly of Iceburn) and drummer Tyler Smith. The duo quickly established itself as a singular entity in the heavy metal scene, forging a distinctive sound that draws as much from doom and sludge as it does from archaic, ritualistic blues. Their approach is characterized by an economy of means, favoring monolithic riffs and heavy rhythms that create a dense and immersive atmosphere.

Their debut album, The Thundering Heir, released in 2009, immediately garnered attention for its raw power and shamanic atmosphere. Eagle Twin deviates from conventional structures to explore often long and repetitive compositions, where Densley's guttural vocals act as an additional instrument, reinforcing the incantatory nature of their music. Their lyrics often delve into mythological and animalistic themes, adding an extra layer of mysticism to their sonic universe.

Throughout their discography, with albums such as The Feather Tipped & Sole-Crushed (2012), The Reaping Rights (2017), and The Treacherous Animal (2020), Eagle Twin has continued to refine their sonic identity. They are renowned for their ability to generate overwhelming intensity with just two musicians, creating a wall of sound that is both hypnotic and devastating. Their live performances are often described as visceral experiences, testifying to their mastery of drone and the dynamics of heaviness.
