music · ·Le Grand Mix, Tourcoing

Atari Teenage Riot is a German digital hardcore pioneer band, formed in Berlin in 1992. Its explosive fusion of punk, techno, and industrial, coupled with radical political messages, defined a unique aggressive and chaotic sound.

Atari Teenage Riot, formed in Berlin in 1992 by Alec Empire, Hanin Elias, and Carl Crack, spearheaded the digital hardcore movement. The band forged a distinctive sound by fusing the raw energy of hardcore punk, the driving rhythms of techno, and the abrasive nature of industrial music. Their compositions are characterized by extreme distortion, frantic breakbeats, and vehement vocals, serving as a vehicle for politically charged lyrics, often anti-fascist and anti-capitalist.

Their career was marked by influential releases on their own label, Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR), including albums such as "Delete Yourself!" (also known as "1995") and "60 Second Wipeout." Atari Teenage Riot's live performances were renowned for their chaotic intensity and confrontational nature, cementing their reputation as a provocative and avant-garde act.

Despite line-up changes and the tragic death of Carl Crack in 2001, the band's uncompromising approach left a lasting impact on electronic and alternative music scenes. After a period of inactivity, the group reformed in the late 2000s, continuing to tour and release new material, while maintaining their fundamental sonic and political identity. Their influence still resonates in various forms of aggressive electronic music.
