music · ·Le Grand Mix, Tourcoing

Bon Iver is the indie folk project of American musician Justin Vernon, known for its evocative soundscapes, distinctive falsetto vocals, and introspective lyricism. It has evolved from intimate acoustic beginnings to complex, experimental arrangements.

Founded by Justin Vernon, Bon Iver rose to prominence with the album For Emma, Forever Ago (2007), largely recorded in isolation in a remote Wisconsin cabin. This debut, characterized by its raw authenticity and poignant melodies, quickly captivated an international audience, defining a distinctive sound rooted in indie folk and singer-songwriter traditions.

Throughout its discography, Bon Iver has consistently pushed the boundaries of its style. The self-titled album Bon Iver, Bon Iver (2011) introduced richer orchestrations and elaborate sound textures, solidifying its critical and commercial acclaim. This evolution continued with 22, A Million (2016), a bold pivot towards experimental electronic sounds, vocoders, and unconventional structures, while retaining Vernon's characteristic emotional intensity.

The project continues to explore innovative sonic territories with albums like i,i (2019), which incorporates jazz and soul elements while deepening the complexity of its arrangements. Bon Iver is celebrated for its ability to merge acoustic and electronic elements, creating unique and deeply personal atmospheres, and influencing a generation of artists with its uncompromising artistic approach.
