CocoRosie is an experimental music duo formed by sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady, renowned for their unique blend of folk, opera, hip-hop, and avant-garde sounds. Their dreamlike and often surreal music explores diverse themes.

CocoRosie is the musical project of American sisters Bianca "Coco" Casady and Sierra "Rosie" Casady. Formed in Paris in 2003, the duo quickly captivated audiences with a unique aesthetic and sonic approach. Their debut album, La Maison de Mon Rêve, recorded in a lo-fi manner in a Parisian bathroom and released in 2004, laid the groundwork for their distinctive universe, marked by intimate production and vocal and instrumental experimentation.

Their music defies strict categorization, navigating between freak folk, art pop, experimental, and avant-garde. CocoRosie incorporates a vast array of influences, ranging from opera (thanks to Sierra's classical training) to hip-hop, alongside elements of blues, electronic music, and the use of toy instruments or found objects. Their compositions are often characterized by an ethereal and dreamlike atmosphere, delicate melodies, and inventive arrangements.

CocoRosie's lyrics delve into profound and sometimes dark themes, such as childhood, spirituality, sexuality, nature, and social issues, often veiled in surreal poetry. Their visual identity, as striking as their music, is characterized by a blend of childlike innocence, gothic elements, and folk references, contributing to an immersive and multidimensional artistic experience.

Following La Maison de Mon Rêve, the duo continued to evolve their sound with acclaimed albums such as Noah's Ark (2005) and The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (2007), solidifying their reputation as innovative artists. CocoRosie has left a significant mark on the independent music scene, influencing numerous artists with their creative audacity and defiance of conventions.
