music · ·L'Aeronef, Lille

Muse is a British rock trio formed in 1994, known for its epic progressive alternative rock, Matthew Bellamy's distinctive vocals, and often dystopian themes.

Formed in Teignmouth, Devon, in 1994, Muse consists of Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano), Chris Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion). The band quickly evolved from its early days as Rocket Baby Dolls to sign with Taste Media, then Maverick Records, releasing their debut album, Showbiz, in 1999.

Their distinctive sound blends alternative rock, progressive rock, and space rock, incorporating classical influences and complex musical structures. Bellamy's falsetto vocals, powerful guitar riffs, and orchestral arrangements contribute to an aesthetic often described as grandiose and theatrical.

Throughout their career, albums such as Origin of Symmetry (2001), Absolution (2003), and Black Holes and Revelations (2006) solidified their global reputation. Muse is acclaimed for its intense live performances and ambitious approach to rock music, exploring themes of dystopia, politics, and technology.

Their ability to fuse catchy melodies with virtuoso instrumentation and introspective lyrics has made Muse one of the most influential and enduring bands of its generation, defining a significant portion of the 21st-century rock landscape.
