Emilíana Torrini is an Icelandic singer-songwriter, known for her ethereal voice and unique blend of folk, indie pop, and electronic elements. She made her mark on the international music scene from the late 90s.

Born in Iceland to an Italian father and an Icelandic mother, Emilíana Torrini began singing at a young age. After winning a national singing competition in 1994 and releasing a debut album in Icelandic, she introduced herself to an international audience with the album Love in the Time of Science in 1999. This work laid the foundation for her distinctive style, blending acoustic folk melodies with subtle electronic arrangements and a trip-hop atmosphere.

Her career is marked by notable collaborations, including with GusGus and Thievery Corporation, and she contributed to The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers soundtrack with "Gollum's Song." Her album Fisherman's Woman (2005) saw a return to a more organic and acoustic sound, critically acclaimed for its vulnerability and intimacy.

In 2008, Emilíana Torrini achieved significant commercial success with the single "Jungle Drum" from the album Me and Armini, which topped charts in several European countries. Her music is often characterized by a gentle melancholy, poetic lyrics, and an ability to create captivating soundscapes that transcend genres.
