Les Nonnes Troppos - 08 June 1996 - Le Pharos - Arras

music · ·Le Pharos, Arras

Les Nonnes Troppos is an iconic French musical comedy duo, blending absurd humor with theatrical songs, often inspired by religious themes.

Les Nonnes Troppos is a French musical and theatrical group formed in the late 1970s, primarily by Jean-Pierre Delage and Christian Ferrari, later joined by Catherine Delage. The duo, sometimes a trio, quickly distinguished itself with its humorous and unconventional approach to French chanson, taking its name from a pun on religious orders and the musical expression "non troppo."

Their style is a unique blend of cabaret, musical comedy, and lyrical song, characterized by satirical lyrics, burlesque sketches, and inventive staging. They cleverly parody current events, society, and institutions, often through the lens of mischievous nun characters. Their humor, sometimes absurd, sometimes biting, earned them recognition for their originality and audacity.

Throughout their career, Les Nonnes Troppos released several notable albums, including their self-titled debut in 1981, followed by "Nonnes Troppos 2" (1983) and "La Messe est dite" (1987). Their shows, true stage performances, toured France and beyond, leaving a lasting impression with their communicative energy and ability to provoke laughter and thought. They thus left a distinctive mark on the French musical humor scene.
